Electric cabinet oven
Electric cabinet oven The No. 912 is an electrically-heated, 500F cabinet oven, currently used for curing rubber parts. Workspace dimensions measure 20" wide x 20" deep x 26" high on this oven, which features a stainless steel exterior with #4 brushed finish and a Type 430 stainless steel interior with continuously backwelded seams and 4" thick insulated walls. Heated horizontal airflow across the workload is provided by 10 kW installed in Incoloy-sheathed tubular heating elements and a 600 cfm, 1/2 hp recirculating blower. This oven includes a 325 cfm powered forced exhauster, as well as a motorized damper on the exhaust for accelerated cooling. The oven exhaust discharges into a Type 304 stainless steel scrubber unit with brass piping. The scrubber uses recirculated water sprayed by a 1-1/2 hp pump into the exhaust to remove particulates. The No. 912 has a digital indicating temperature controller, 10" diameter circular chart recorder, fused disconnect switch and eight permanently-mounted survey thermocouples connected to a jack strip on the oven's control panel.

Creel threading device
The Model 547 creel threading device is an ergonomically enhanced cord conveying system for the steel cord creel system. The creel threading device transports the cords individually from each spool to the front of the creel, ready to enter the front organizing system, which may be simple eyelets, roller boards or other organizing systems. The motorized Model 547 device conveys the cords, eliminating operator strain from manually pulling the cords. Threading time is reduced as well. The Model 547 is said to eliminate an ergonomic hazard and increase productivity. The Model 547 employs a servomotor-driven attachment. The device is modular and may be customized to nearly any length of creel. The device is said to be sturdy yet compact, and does not obstruct normal creel operation and spool loading using the company's creel loader. The Model 547 employs extruded aluminum components to reduce manufacturing costs.

Compounding line variant
The company's compounding line portfolio has been extended by the cost-effective ModulPlus variant. With this new line concept, the manufacturing time is additionally shortened by about two months and the steel structure costs are reduced by up to 20%, according to the company. The ModulPlus line concept features a simple and straighfortward design. While the metering, material handling, pelletizing and control modules remained almost unchanged, the extruder is no longer integrated into a steel module. This is said to offer free access to the extruder at ground level. Thanks to short set-up and start-up times and low total investment costs, these lines have firmly established themselved in the international market, according to the company. They are composed of fully wired and piped individual units that are mounted and tested at the company's facility in Hannover, Germany. At the place of destination, the modules are then simply set up, connected and started. Benefits for processors are said to include rapid start-up without any interface problems, easy disassembly and re-installation in the case of production relocations, and low total investment costs.

The Taskmaster TM2800 shredder quickly reduces a wide range of bulk solids with its powerful shredding action. Featuring an advanced design, this low speed, high torque, counter-rotating shredder tears through tires, rubber materials, pallets and more, reducing bulk volume up to 80%, according to the manufacturer. The unit is said to cut storage and disposal costs, reduce scrap and help in the safe disposal of hazardous or substandard waste. The Taskmaster has a fully enclosed dust-tight body of heavy structural steel. Hardened and ground cutter disks and spacers ride on two parallel hex shafts. These cutters counter-rotate at different speeds, intermeshing with one another. Solids are grabbed and shredded by this high torque mechanism. The unit operates with little vibration or noise. A split body frame design is said to provide easy access to the cutters, allowing fast removal of the complete cutter assembly from the top of the unit.

A Swedish producer of sealing profiles for the automotive and building industries placed an order with this company for the delivery of two EcoLine microwave channels. The objective of this investment was to substantially reduce operating costs in the energy-intensive vulcanization process. Special features of the EcoLine microwave channel include reduced waste gas losses and the energy-optimized switched-mode power supplies. Closed circulation of the process air is said to provide maximum cost savings, since 90% of the energy-intensive hot air remains in the system. Another new feature is the improved thermal insulation of the process chambers. Each of the four microwave channel modules is equipped with one generator of 6 kW magnetron power. A circulator integrated into the energy supply transfers the energy not absorbed by the product to the connected water load, thus improving the magnetron service life, according to the company.

A TMP 170 ton vacuum hydraulic press used for precision rubber molding was recently rebuilt by the company. The customer, a custom molder serving a wide variety of industries, was still running the older press in their daily operation, but experiencing problems with the press reliability due to outdated hydraulic and electrical programming. As part of the hydraulic press rebuild project, the firm replaced the complete hydraulic system to utilize upgraded Bosch hydraulics. The new self-contained oil hydraulic unit with energy efficient motor reduced energy consumption in the molder's process and increased cycle time with faster press close and opening. All pre-existing press plumbing and wiring were replaced, significantly reducing the press's footprint. The operator-friendly press controller features a color screen display.

The easy-to-use controller is equipped with a touch screen interface that allows ready access to all of its functions. It is designed for use with Farr Gold Series dust collectors, or other types of collectors if integrated with a motor starter or variable frequency drive package. 48-ton automatic press The Auto Series has been expanded to include a 48 ton model in three platen sizes (15" x 15", 18" x 18" [for general purpose applications], and 19" x 19" [for ASTM D-3182 rubber test slab preparation]). It is available with heated and/or cooled platen packages. The Auto Four/48 has a 650F maximum operating temperature, 0" to 15" adjustable daylight and 4" stroke. The NE digital control system features a full touchscreen interface, a proximity switch for adjustable slowdown position and is all heat controlled through a PLC and interface. The NE controls can easily switch between degrees Fahrenheit and degrees Celsius, and between pounds, kilograms, tons and metric tons. Auto reheat at the end of a cycle and automatic bump sequence can be programmed. Other features include a self-contained hydraulic system, and two-hand anti-tie-down close buttons for operator safety.

A heavy die and mold installation and retrieval system is self-loading and unloading and is capable of installing heavy dies into the press effortlessly by one person. This is done safely and efficiently, which will eliminate injuries, according to the company. The design features two short arms and two long arms to do the pushing and pulling with just a press of the button, instead of three or four people doing it strenuously. Biopolymer compounding A third compounding line has been provided by the company to a producer of biodegradable and biobased polymer compounds. Complete compounding lines composed of twin-screw extruders and appropriate upstream and downstream equipment are provided. The biobased polymer producer was supplied with a perfectly tailored package solution, starting from material metering, customized compounding section up to the sacking system, including platform. According to the company, in addition to the known twin-screw extruder benefits, i.e., excellent homogenization and careful plasticizing, the R-Series twin-screw extruder used in this case features a large free screw volume. This is said to ensure reliable feeding of the powdered starting materials and subsequent compounding with high output rates of up to 1,000 kg/hour in biopolymer production. Hybrid hydraulic injection molding machine MMX Series injection molding machines incorporate the company's smart hybrid hydraulic system and are engineered for efficiency. The smart hybrid hydraulic system is said to greatly reduce power consumption. Featuring a three-phase injection motor and a variable capacity piston pump, this system consumes less energy than hybrid systems, and up to 40% less power than conventional hydraulic systems. A highly responsive servomotor is said to readily stabilize hydraulic oil flow and pressure to save energy. In addition, the simple configuration of the smart hybrid hydraulic system's piping is said to enable reduced maintenance, while the enclosed pumping system reduces noise emission. For quality and reliability, the MMX features uniform four-point, two-platen clamping. Four-point tie-bar clamping is said to easily tolerate unbalanced loads and offers the same reliability as much larger units, according to the company. Two-platen clamping saves space, even when using wide platens, according to the manufacturer. The light, yet rigid platen design of the MMX incorporates the company's analytic technologies. For stable injection with low energy consumption, the mechanism supporting the bearing housing uses a linear rail. Hydraulic cylinders are positioned at both sides of the screw, thereby reducing the size of the injection unit. The MMX is also equipped with quick molding capability. For increased productivity, the MMX is said to offer fast mold open/close and fast ejector retraction/fast mold-close pressurization, rapid ejector action, a high capacity hydraulic core-pull pump and more. The inclusion of a long L/D-type UB screw is said to result in energy-efficient kneading and excellent plasticizing performance.

Mold cleaning machine The Model GWB-702T rotary table wheel blast system features one blast wheel over each half of a 4,000 pound capacity, 70" diameter turntable. With this blast wheel configuration, the GWB-702T is claimed to be especially suitable for batch processing molds or dies that are essentially flat or have limited vertical surfaces. Each blast wheel is directly driven by a 10 hp motor at a speed of 3,000 rpm and is capable of throwing approximately 220 pounds of metallic media per minute in an extended blast pattern up to 36" long. Molding parts removal
Molding parts removal Varioflex suction cups are used by a supplier of injection molded parts to the automobile industry. Process reliability was said to be low for the customer when manufacturing injection molded parts for vehicle interiors. The cause was identified as the suction cups, which did not develop the necessary suction force when removing the injection molding part from the mold undercut. With the Varioflex suction cups, a very soft sealing lip (30 durometer) sits seamlessly onto dimensionally stable bellows (60 durometer), which prevents lateral bending. The highly flexible sealing lip offers a high holding force, even on uneven surfaces, said to be a benefit that is particularly useful for grained surfaces. Micro-leakage is minimized as the bellows balance out height differences in the components.

The E-Speed 650 high-speed injection molding machine uses the technology of the company's all-electric E-Motion and E-Cap high-performance series and is said to combine outstanding injection speeds with maximum energy efficiency. The 650 metric ton hybrid machine features an all electric clamping unit and a completely new drive solution. As power peaks are traditionally not achieved economically when high clamping forces are combined with short cycle times, a flywheel acts as an electric reserve in the E-Speed. It stores the braking energy from the platen movements and transfers this energy back to the motor as and when it is required for processes such as the re-acceleration of the clamping movements.
