Sheet extrusion lines
Entering the polyolefin sheet extrusion market, the company has delivered its first polyolefin thick sheet extrusion line consisting of a PAK400 single screw extruder and a PAK650 single screw extruder. The twin machines are said to have increased the output rates to 2,100 pounds/hour (950 kg/hour). The first sheet extrusion line has been in operation for 12 months, running 24/7, and the customer is said to be reporting excellent performance. The company has installed in-line embossing capability to these sheet extrusion lines, eliminating the need to emboss offline, saving the customer another setup and eliminating the need to reheat the sheet, which can result in additional stress and cause possible warping. The sheet lines are engineered and installed by the company.

Weigh batch unloader The Bulk-Out bulk bag weigh batch unloader with seismic bracing is said to provide added structural integrity and operator safety for installations in regions prone to earthquakes. The BFC model discharger frame is equipped with a cantilevered i-beam and electric hoist and trolley for positioning of bulk bags without the use of a forklift. The bag lifting frame is equipped with patented Z-Clip bag strap holders that allow rapid insertion and removal of bag straps. A manually operated iris valve atop a hopper intake chute allows the bag spout to be cinched and the drawstring untied before gradually opening the valve, avoiding uncontrolled bursts of material into the receiving vessel and associated dust. Four-sided cross-bracing strengthens the frame against deformation and reduces the possibility of a structural failure when subjected to the dynamic loading associated with a seismic event.

Large molding press system for rubber parts A global manufacturer of custom hydraulic presses with locations in Germany and the U.S. has developed and installed one of the largest presses for molded rubber parts for the Austrian company Semperit. The 11,465 U.S. ton press with heated platens measuring 130" x 142" can mold parts almost 11' square. The weight of the WKP 100000 upstroke frame press is also a clear indication of its considerable (17' x 17' x 27') size, weighing approximately 423 U.S. tons. Its range of functions is said to allow economical production of elastomer diaphragms for filter plates. These large rubber products are custom manufactured in the Semperit Engineered Solutions business unit under the supervision of development production specialists. The mold is installed on the sliding table in the extended position. The table then actuates into the press, allowing engagement of the top plate. Since the upper part of the mold (130" x 142") is not accessible in the press, the upper part of the mold moves with the lower part out onto the sliding table outside the press. This hydraulic sliding table allows for maneuverability of the mold, thereby reducing any ergonomic issues. The company provides automation to service the mold by loading and unloading the rubber preforms and finished parts. This reduction in material, handling and cycle time during part unloading and cleaning is said to be a significant economic advantage to the operator of the system. The large elastomer press was constructed in the firm's modular design.

Pressure blast mold cleaning systems are specifically designed for blasting, reclaiming and cleaning of recyclable plastic media, and are self-contained for a dust-free, non-toxic environment. To ensure maximum operator visibility, dust is vacuumed from the cabinet by means of a high efficiency blower located on the clean air side of the dust collector. For easy maintenance, the dust collector is equipped with an automatic/manual cartridge blow down valve. The clean, reusable media pass through a vibrating screen to trap large contaminants and, simultaneously, through a magnetic separator that filters out ferrous contaminants before being stored for reuse. Reloading of media into the pressure vessel from the storage hopper occurs automatically each time the operator releases the foot pedal depressurizing the vessel.

Genesis series presses are said to be state-of-the-art hydraulic presses for compression molding of rubber, plastics and composites, and for laminating and bonding or pressure applications where positive ram control is needed. The Genesis series is said to reflect more than half a century of the company's leadership in hydraulic press design and construction. It is said to be rugged enough for round-the-clock performance on the production floor, but works equally well as a precision laboratory press, according to the manufacturer. Genesis presses are available in 15 through 150 ton capacities. The hydraulic system is said to produce faster closing and opening speeds, making it ideal for use with many of today's advanced molding compounds. Optional heated platens are available for 500°F, 650°F, 800°F, 1,200°F and 1,800°F operating temperatures, which are required for many composite, ceramic and other molding applications, including superplastic molding of titanium. The Genesis series features a NEMA-rated control cabinet designed for easy access. All electrical panels are manufactured by the company in its UL-approved electrical shop. An integral hydraulic system features a dual pump assembly coupled with a high-efficiency TEFC motor.

A quick adjustment page groups the most important setting parameters in a compact way. To ensure an ergonomic workflow, the 15" touchscreen can be swiveled out forward and is height adjustable. In terms of processing power, the C2 control unit is said to outperform control units of other machine producers in this area by 33%. The T-Win machines are fitted with a ServoWin servohydraulic as standard equipment. This is said to cut energy consumption by more than 60%.

The move follows a technical development project with Tecnothane hot cast polyurethane MDI system experts from Tecnoelastomeri. After consulting Huntsman Tecnoelastomeri about the best materials to use to supersize its range, Räder-Vogel is now offering its customers tailor-made wheels with a diamter of more than 1,500 mm. The wheels are being offered under the company's Pevotec brand, an extensive line of wheels and castors designed for use in extreme operating conditions. Pevotec wheels are based on the Tecnothane hot cast polyurethane MDI system. Characterized by their flexibility, castors and wheels in the Pevotec range are said to be renowned for their ability to carry heavy loads, even where mounting space is tight. Well equipped to handle extreme stress and temperature variations, they are said to be ideal for heavy duty tasks. A wide range of Tecnothane hot cast polyurethane MDI systems is offered by the company, along with the skills to help adapt the material's chemical and physical properties to meet the needs of its customers.
