Dual drive crackermill for rubber grinding
Dual drive crackermill for rubber grinding A Dual Drive crackermill has been delivered to Alberta Environmental Rubber Products. The Dual Drive crackermill is said to be recognized worldwide for the development and production of the dual roll technology that revolutionized and modernized the production of fine grind rubber material, according to the company. The rolls are driven independently at variable speeds to create the rolling and cracking of the rubber, known as the friction ratio. As the friction ratio increases, the mill's production and size reduction performance capabilities are greatly enhanced. The dual drive mill uses a regeneration process which allows the machine to lower its energy requirements and operate more efficiently. This process is controlled by programmable, fully integrated logic controls that increase production rates while cutting power consumption. The machine is capable of processing tire rubber, as well as other rubber materials down to -20 to 80 mesh powders. This is said to be the first crackermill delivered by the company since it acquired the intellectual rights for the Artisan Dual Drive crackermill. In addition to manufacturing the new Dual Drive crackermill, the company operates a complete refurbishment department to service existing mill equipmpent. The firm provides roll replacement and regrinds, and stocks parts, including rolls and bearings. The demand for crumb rubber is said to be growing. The use of coloring dyes along with polymers and binders is said to make tire rubber a popular choice for many manufacturers. Shredding equipment reconfigured to make larger shreds is said to make for excellent feedstock for mulch and loose fill.

Horizontal molding The horizontal MHF700/200S machines are said to feature an exceptionally space-saving footprint. Compared to the competition, the MHF700/200editionS offers the same clamping force and level of equipment with a footprint which is up to 50% smaller. Fine mesh straining
Products with applications ranging from fine mesh straining and roll pump technology, as well as the Roll-Ex straining cell, an offline solution for the straining of rubber compounds, are offered by the company. The straining cell is a fully automated solution for the fine mesh straining of rubber compounds (offline), consisting of strainer, strip cooler and stacking and packing device. In the process, the modular Roll-Ex gear extruder can be combined with both a two-roll feeder and a screw feeder. After the straining process, the material is intensively and uniformly cooled in a high-performance drum cooler. The cooling technology, which is particularly gentle on the material, prevents deformation and anti-adhesive concentrations on the strips. The clean material is then packed in an extremely space-saving manner by means of an ingenious packing and stacking device. The individual units of the straining cell can be arranged in a way that is flexible and very compact, which also allows the production of customized solutions. ()

Extrusion tool cleaning
The Techne calibration extrusion tool cleaning service uses an industrial fluidized bath (IFB) for safe and effective cleaning of steel tooling, components, systems and parts within 48 hours. Techne's IFB-based cleaning is said to provide easy removal of any paints, polymer, adhesives or oils from tools used in broad manufacturing and research industries, including plastic molding, rubber and polymer extrusion. Techne's IFBs are said to already be used widely by plastic manufacturers for efficient and safe cleaning of tools at temperatures of up to 600C through instant heating of the gently abrasive fluidized medium, aluminum oxide powder. The method is said to offer a number of advantages over alternatives such as blow-torch and oven-based cleaning, including greater safety and control, reduced metal fatigue and tool damage, no unpleasant fumes or environmental risks, shorter cleaning times and better cleaning results, according to the manufacturer.

Waterjet cutting system offered in kit form The WardKit includes everything necessary to start waterjet cutting and is available in 2 x 2, 5 x 5 and 5 x 10 sizes. The WardKit features the company's heavy duty waterjet tank and Job Shop Grates, said to be ideal for precise cutting of both thin and thick materials up to 12". The 3232 ballscrew and beefy construction of the WardKit gantry are said to combine to provide accurate and reliable cutting. The WardKit is also equipped with the choice of a water-only or abrasive cutting head with full abrasive delivery system. Each WardKit comes standard with a HyPrecision 30 hp intensifier pump. The WardKit even includes access to the company's technical support. Upgrades and options on pump horsepower, controller style and abrasive delivery system are also available to allow for an ideal configuration. One particular rubber material that Akron Gasket uses required four passes with an oscillating knife which uses a tiny blade to cut materials, whereas the waterjet cut through in one pass.

C-frame machines that close top-down The MTTF100/20C represents a c-frame generation that closes from the top down. The 200 kN machine is the first machine of this range. The 300 kN and 500 kN models will follow shortly. This range is very compact with an exellent footprint to match, according to the company. The fully hydraulic clamping unit with a fixed lower plate has, for example, made it significantly easier to automate the insertion and removal process of profiles with corner molding. Displacement of the profiles out of the tool is effectively prevented, resulting in a higher quality of the finished product. The optimized operation height of the range of machines, in connection with the c-frame design, is said to ensure excellent accessibility to the mold area on all three sides, according to the manufacturer. Conceived on the basis of value analysis, these machines offer a great deal of technology for a fair price. The c-frame, which is optimized for stiffness, is said to guarantee a minimum of bending with a high degree of parallelism. Both effects result in low levels of mold wear when opening and closing, and correspondingly low mold maintenance costs. Ideal applications for the Tip-Top range are corner molding, the manufacture of small molded parts and/or small batch sizes. Completing the range is a version with an injection unit for manufacturing with TPE. The company is said to place great emphasis on energy efficiency, even with the standard version, equipped with an energy-saving hydraulic pump with proportional pressure/volume control. Energy efficiency can be further enhanced by means of an optional CoolDrive. This servo-controlled hydraulic pump is said to offer extra power for rapid air cycle times for even less energy consumption. This is said to be good for the environment and cuts production costs.

Waterjet cutting system
The Emerald 1530 water-only waterjet system with shuttle tables and roll feeding system was tailored for a Tier 1 automotive supplier with specific features to save labor and production costs. This Emerald 1530 is capable of handling three rolls that weigh up to 3,500 pounds each. The pinch feed roller works in unison with the roll handling system to make the roll material load correctly onto the cutting table. The material gripper, the first of its kind to be designed and implemented at the company, grabs the material edge by inflating an air bladder and, working jointly with the pinch feed roller, pulls it evenly across the length of the cutting table. Hydraulic single-shaft scrap rubber shredder The Eco Monster is a hydraulic powered single-shaft shredder for scrap waste tire applications. This technology is said to provide aggressive shredding capabilities to processors who demand the best efficiencies and low maintenance equipment features. Outfitted with a 180 kW (250 hp) custom hydraulic power unit which drives a Hagglunds motor, the Eco Monster churns through waste rubber, outputting rough shreds down to 2-8" in size. Volume production can be expected at an output of up to 12 tons per hour. This primary shredder is designed with a rotor length of 77" which contains 18 fly knives and nine bed knives for cutting. A hydraulic service door opens and reveals a cutting chamber containing an impressive set of cutting blades, knives and a 32" diameter rotor. These uniquely designed knives are said to be service friendly and can be quickly changed and rotated with a simple impact drill and torque wrench. This shredder outputs rough shreds for TDA (tire derived aggregate), TDF (tire derived fuel) and further downstream processing. TDF and TDA are almost 50% of the total market share of annual scrap tire use in the USA, with high demand coming from the cement kilns, pulp and paper mills and utility boilers. Sophisticated material testing is said to reveal that the shredder can also process other waste materials such as plastics, wood and electronic waste for general waste reduction. The Eco Monster has the capacity to efficiently shred waste into manageable sizes for output or further processing. The company is a U.S.-based manufacturer and designer of turnkey tire recycling equipment and integrated shredding systems for its global customers throughout the U.S., Europe, South America, the Middle East and Asia.

Walk-in batch oven
The No. 993 is a 500F (~260C) electric walk-in batch oven, currently used for curing various elastomeric and thermoplastic parts at a customer's facility. Workspace of this unit measures 48" wide by 96" deep by 72" high. Incoloy sheathed tubular heating elements, with 45 kw installed, heat the oven, while a 6,000 cfm, 5 hp recirculating blower provides horizontal airflow across the workload. This walk-in oven has 4" insulated walls throughout, an aluminized steel exterior and interior, a 2" insulated floor with built-in truck wheel guide tracks, an exhaust hood over the oven doors equipped with an 18" diameter tubeaxial fan driven by a 3/4 hp motor and an integral door switch to start the hood fan when the doors are opened, then shut down the fan when the doors are closed. The No. 993 also provides many added safety features, including a 325 cfm powered forced exhauster, digital indicating temperature controller, manual reset excess temperature controller with separate contactors, recirculating airflow safety switch, a 10" diameter circular chart recorder and a 30-hour oven shutdown timer.
