Mixing/extrusion testing
The MetaTorque Plasti-Corder utilizes Allen-Bradley PLC field techology. Through the use of PLC, adding ancillary equipment is said to be quick and easy. The unit employs inline load cell technology. The MetaTorque features the RheoLink software program, which is a universal software program for evaluating either mixer or extrusion applications. By use of RFID (radio frequency identification), RheoLink auto detects the attachment (mixers or extruders), the heat zones required for the application and all safety limits for the attachment. The intuitive and friendly software provides detailed analysis of mixer or extrusion data. Any mixer or extruder attachment from the company will adapt to the MetaTorque rheometer. Features include a computerized interface with WiFi remote connectivity, PLC field bus technology, AC servo motor, and more.

Moving die rheometer
Fully automated Series MDR 3000 moving die rheometers include basic as well as online test instruments for direct integration into production lines and batch-off units. The advanced, automated DisperTester 3000 plus is said to improve traditionally used methods by utilizing the latest computer-based image processing technology, and is said to provide accurate, reproducible and quantitative test results. Easy sample preparation, and quick and fully automated test sequences allow test times of less than a minute, without the need for specialized operators. The DisperTester 3000 plus is said to be built on the proven technology of the DisperTester product series. Instrument management
Data capture and instrument management are becoming the most critical facets of laboratory productivity, quality and compliance, according to the company. Recent reports are said to indicate that at least one full-time worker equivalent per week is devoted to managing measurement data and related meta-data in the modern laboratory. Temperature controllers
The 1496 and 1498 Series temperature controllers can meet heat-only control, heat/cool control or indicator-only applications on extruders. The 1496 and 1498 Series temperature controllers are said to offer an economical solution to precision temperature control of extruders. With two DIN sizes and multiple output configurations, the controllers are suitable for twin and single screw extruders. Both can be configured for heat-only control in die and adapter zones, or for control of both heating and cooling in barrel zones. The 1496 (1/16 DIN format) and 1498 (1/8 DIN format) Series can also be used in an indicator-only mode. Because these instruments offer three default parameter sets, for heat only, heat/cool and indicator only, they have the flexibility needed to suit all extrusion applications, according to the company. Users can configure the instrument with up to three alarms, selected from a range of process alarms, as well as loop alarms to ensure process control security. All process alarms have adjustable hysteresis.

High speed lab disperser
High speed lab disperser The Model HSM-100LH-3 vacuum high speed disperser is designed for laboratory and pilot-scale mixing of batches up to five gallons. It can be supplied with a vacuum-rated mix vessel, including a heating/cooling jacket and mixer cover with sight/charge ports. Interchangeable saw-tooth disperser blades are available (2", 3", 3.5" and 4" diameter), suitable for variable speed operation up to 4,800 rpm. All wetted parts are stainless steel type 316. High speed dispersers are said to be useful for wetting out solids and creating a uniform, air-free suspension or solution under vacuum. The classic open-style saw-tooth disc blade generates a vortex on the liquid surface into which powders and other minor components are added for quick incorporation. Rapid turnover and vigorous flow patterns are said to be achieved throughout a wide range of viscosity, from water-like to around 50,000 centipoise.

Universal testing machines
Electromechanical universal testing machines, bench and floor models, have been developed. The ST Series features frames with capacities up to 300 kN of force, carefully applied by advanced digital control. The bench-mounted ST Series replaces the S Series and T Series of testers from the company, and are available in capacities of 1 kN, 5 kN, 10 kN, 25 kN and 50 kN. Construction of the machine frame, leadscrews and drive system is said to make them unique, offering excellent rigidity with negligible frame deflection, according to the company. GPC/SEC testing system
The Omnisec gel permeation chromatography/size exclusion chromatography (GPC/SEC) system is said to feature ground-breaking sensitivity. GPC/SEC is primarily used to measure the MW, MW distribution and structural characterization of polymers, proteins and other macromolecules. Omnisec Reveal, the detector module of the system, includes refractive index, light scattering and viscometer detectors to maximize the informational productivity of each GPC/SEC analysis. The light scattering detector measures absolute MW down to around 200 Da, with no requirement for calibration. These data can be used in combination with viscosity parameters generated by the viscometer to quantify structural characteristics such as extent of branching. The Omnisec also provides ease of use features.

Chromatography system

Sample preparation set
The FDG sample preparation set is said to be suitable for both cured samples (direct cutting without stretching) and uncured samples. The first unit needs compressed air to compress the uncured sample to possibly squeeze out air bubbles and make the sample tougher by cooling before cutting. The second unit needs electric power and compressed air to stretch a compressed and chilled sample to around 10% in strain, then cuts the sample automatically. The second unit keeps stretching the sample during cutting to prevent the blade from smearing the cut sample surface. The FDG sample preparation set completely complies with ASTM D7723 for uncured samples for FDG testing.

Rubber hardness testing The RX-1600 A durometer is designed to measure rubber hardness in durometer A units according to ASTM D2240 specifications. Users simply press the durometer into the rubber sample to measure hardness. Rugged metal construction, along with a proven design, are said to offer years of trouble-free use.
