Zinox 350
Zinc oxide
American Chemet
ï

Sp.gr. 4.9 g/cc; high surface area ZnO > 21m2/gm; precipitated; nodular; ± 99.5% -325 mesh; cream-off white.

Activator for rubber; neoprene, butyl, nitrile, EPDM, SBR, latex, etc.

Magnesium oxide

Pristerene 9429
Stearic acid.
M.F. Cachat
ï

Tallow based rubber grade stearic acid; titre, 52-60°C, iodine no. 11 max., acid value 192-210 and saponification value 194-212.

Stearic Acid - Industrene
Stearic acid
R.E. Carroll
ï

White powder or flakes.

Single, double, triple pressed.

Zinc Oxide
Zinc oxide

ï

Sp gr, about 5.6; odorless, white powder or coated and pelleted; available in various purities, particle sizes.

NR, SR, latex activator; reinforcer; inorganic color; recommended for all conventional accelerator systems; slightly retards alkaline-types; exhibits anti-scorch properties; gives good processing, low heat build-up; varies from slow to fast curing, depending on impurities present; add directly; disperses readily.

Laurex
Zinc salts of lauric and related fatty acids
Chemtura
ï

Sp.gr. 1.18; tan flaked solid; mp about 107-118°C, but not definitely specified; good storage stability.

For CR, NBR, NR, SBR and their latices; recommended for tire carcass and tread compounds, extruded stocks, proof goods; activates thiazole accelerators and their derivatives; evens out and advances curing rates of off-grade rubbers deficient in natural fatty acids. Low blooming from cured and uncured compounds; much less blooming than many other fatty acid softeners; non-discoloring; melts, disperses readily.

Actafoam R3
Fatty acid salts dispersion
Chemtura
ï

Sp.gr. 1.05; amber liquid; lead free; for use in FDA approved applications.

Activator-stabilizer for foamable thermoplastic compounds; replacement for a portion of the normal zinc oxide level in sponge rubber compounding.

D-B-A Accelerator
Dibenzylamine-monobenzylamine blend
Chemtura
ï

Sp.gr. 1.01; pale-yellow free flowing liquid; good storage stability.

For NR, SBR rubbers and latices, NR reclaim; affects air cures ranging from 24 hrs. at room temp to 20 min at 100°C; retarded by clay and other acidic materials; action with xanthates or carbon disulfide enhanced by thiazoles and thiurams; non-discoloring, non-staining; vulcanization requires zinc oxide and sulfur; fatty acids not necessary and can retard cure; can apply carbon disulfide by painting or dipping compounds thus eliminating danger of precure; for processing and applications see C-P-B.

BIK-OT
Surface-coated urea
Chemtura
ï

Sp.gr. 1.31; fine, white powder; mp, 129-134°C; good storage stability under normal conditions; somewhat hydroscopic.

For CR, IIR, NBR, NR, SBR and EPDM; activator for nitrogen-type blowing agents; activator for thiazole, thiuram and dithiocarbamate accelerators; relatively nondiscoloring and non-staining; reduces odor-producing properties of dinitrosopentamethylene tetramine blowing agents; helps lower decomposition point of Celogen AZ and Kempore types to range normal for rubber curing.
