A rubber soluble zinc soap used as an activator for natural rubber; used instead of stearic acid and reduces stress relaxation and primary creep of NR-vulcanizates, especially in combination with soluble EV-systems; dosage: 1-3 phr.

Struktol WB 700A
Zinc oxide 91%; dispersing agent 9%
Struktol Company of America
ï

Specific gravity: 3.85; bulk density: 1,200; ash content: 91%; appearance: non-dusting powder

A non-dusting powder and is preferably used, where high amounts of dispersing agents are undesirable; shorter mixing time can be achieved compared to powered zinc oxide due to faster incorporation and the temperature of the compound is increased only slightly, which is an advantage in scorchy stocks; can be used in small dosages due to the uniform dispersion of the zinc oxide; formation of agglomerates, variations of the physical values and brittleness of the vulcanized rubber are reduced; physical properties of the vulcanizates are improved, especially after aging.

Struktol Activator 73A
Mixture of zinc salts of aliphatic and aromatic carboxylic acids
Struktol Company of America
ï

Dropping Point: 105-117C, Specific Gravity: 1.24, Zinc Content: 20% max, Appearance: antique white pastilles

Improvements include: prolonged reversion time, higher modulus, less heat build-up under dynamic load, and reduced compression set at elevated temperatures.

Struktol WB 900A
Magnesium oxide dispersion
Struktol Company of America
ï

Specific gravity: 2.09, magnesium oxide: 75+/-1, appearance: tan bead

Struktol metal oxide preparations may be used in rubber compounds where the dispersion of untreated metal oxides gives rise to problems; they reduce sticking to the rotor blades and mill rolls; WB 900A provides protection against humidity and carbon dioxide.; reduces the scorch risk of polychloroprene compounds.

Struktol Zimag 29/43A
Free-flowing granulate consisting of: 29% zinc oxide, 43% magnesium oxide and 28% wetting and dispersing agent.
Struktol Company of America
ï

Specific gravity: 2.11, bulk density: 800 (kg/m3), ash content: 70%, appearance: gray powder.

A cross-linking agent consisting of a 2:3 ratio of zinc oxide to magnesium oxide for chloroprene compounds to reduce scorch; dosage: 4-8 phr.

Struktol Activator 73LM
Mixture of zinc salts of aliphatic and aromatic carboxylic acids
Struktol Company of America
ï

Dropping point: 94-106C; specific gravity: 1.15; zinc content: 12% max; appearance: antique white pastilles

Effective activator for sulfur vulcanization, used at 2 - 5 phr, designed for lower temperature mixes compared to Activator 73A.

Struktol Zinc Stearate
Manufactured from a high quality technical grade stearic acid in a tightly controlled production operation that guarantees product uniformity.
Struktol Company of America
ï

Appearance: Three forms are available bead, pastille, and powder; zinc stearate bead is a free-flowing spray-dried microbead; the pastille is lens-shaped and approximately 1/8 inch in diameter; the bead and pastille are relatively new product forms in the industry; they have the major advantage of being essentially dust-free during handling, in contrast to powder forms; in all other aspects, the properties are equivalent to the standard stearates being used in the plastic and rubber industries.

Serves primarily as a lubricant, but also as a densifying agent and a partitioning agent; used extensively in color concentrates as a dispersion aid; used to improve processing of the styrenics and polyesters, and to a lesser extent with the olefins; In rubber applications, it functions as an elastomer processing aid and release agent.
