Yokohama Rubber acquires tire distributor in Poland

The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., announced that on May 6 its European headquarters, Yokohama Europe GmbH, signed an agreement to acquire a 100 percent equity stake in Poland’s ITR CEE Spółka z.o.o., a wholesale distributor engaged in the import and sale of Yokohama tires in central and eastern Europe. The acquisition was scheduled to be concluded on May 14, after which the Polish company’s name will be changed to Yokohama CEE Spółka z.o.o.

Yokohama Rubber expands production capacity for high pressure hydraulic hoses in China

Demand in China for construction machinery, such as hydraulic excavators and construction cranes, declined sharply in 2020 due to the impact of COVID-19, but has been recovering sharply in recent months. Sales of high pressure hydraulic hoses for construction machinery are expanding sharply in both the OEM and replacement markets. To meet this robust demand, Yokohama Rubber has decided to expand production capacity at its Chinese subsidiary.

Yokohama Rubber sells adhesive business unit to Sika Group

Sika has agreed to acquire Hamatite, the adhesives business of The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. Hamatite is a market leader in Japan, offering adhesives and sealants to the automotive and construction industries. The acquisition will significantly strengthen Sika’s market position in Japan, increase market access to all major Japanese OEMs, and notably extend the product offering for sealing and bonding applications in the Japanese construction industry. Headquartered in Tokyo, the business generates annual sales of CHF 160 million. The transaction is subject to clearance by anti-trust authorities
